Vice Presidency
- The Vice President is often over looked by many people. They are seen as selected only to balance the ticket or because they cover an area that is a weakness of the president. Up until recently in history the vice presidency has been largely overlooked. Recently the Vice President has become a key adviser to the President.
- They are constitutionally the President of the Senate. They cast a vote if the Senate ever comes up with a 50-50 tie. A very unlikely event.
- This office often serves as a stepping stone to the presidency.
- A vice president must meet all the same requirements as the president (35 years old, U.S. resident for 14 years, natural born citizen)
- Salary: $230,000
- Nominated by either the presidential candidate or by the party during the National Convention.
